Abstract
This book is based on a report of a project partially funded by the Criminology Research Council. The original title of the research project, in the name of Professor Richard Fox, was 'On-the-spot fines in Victoria'. The book looks at changes which have recently occurred in this area of law and practice in Victoria. The legal and criminological aspects of on-the-spot fines are examined, along with the broader implications of the surveillance techniques upon which these measures largely depend.
