Our aim is to increase public awareness of the research the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) undertakes to inform crime and criminal justice policy and practice.
The AIC has researchers to comment on a range of criminology issues such as:
Child protection and child abuse
Crime prevention and trends in crime prevention policy
Drugs, alcohol and violence
Fraud and white collar crime
Human trafficking and slavery
Money laundering and organised crime
Youth crime and diversion
The AIC is committed to responding to media enquiries in a timely matter and forging a professional partnership with media outlets. All media enquiries and interview requests are required in writing via media [at] acic.gov.au.
Please note that the AIC does not comment directly on government policy, current police investigations or individual criminal cases.
Following Machinery of Government changes in 2015, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission Media team works closely with subject-matter experts within the AIC to facilitate engagement with local, national and international news organisations.
The Media team liaises with members of the media and not the general public.
The media office is staffed between 9 am and 5 pm AEST weekdays and can be contacted
by phone: 02 6268 7343 or email: media [at] acic.gov.au
An on-call liaison officer is also available out-of-hours to facilitate urgent media enquiries, and can be contacted on 0409 603 637.
If your enquiry is not media-related, refer to our Contact us page.
