Abstract
The first section presents three key papers which examine alcohol and drug use and its link to crime from different perspectives. The next section contains papers which examine particular responses to alcohol and drug use in a variety of contexts. The next section covers structural issues, such as changing policy, law, its enforcement and health care provision. The final section presents the recommendations of three working groups covering social policy, pre-trial diversion and therapeutic communities/therapeutic approaches in prisons.
