Abstract

The factors which affect the rates of remand in custody in Australia are explored. The report examines the environment in which decisions to remand accused persons in custody are made and the outcome of these decisions. It describes how remands are managed in the criminal justice systems, and identifies research gaps and priorities for future research needs.
