Foundations for an effective performance measurement system for drug law enforcement

Abstract

This guide outlines 12 major steps needed to develop and implement an effective performance measurement system for drug law enforcement (DLE). It is a companion piece to the project's overall final report, technical fieldwork findings, and national implementation model and is designed to be read alongside those documents. Material presented in this document is intended for all staff who have responsibility for drug law enforcement performance; from local-level, operational staff through to senior executives. As such, information provided here is deliberately high-level so that it can be adapted and applied from local through to national-level drug law enforcement (or indeed other law enforcement) settings. The steps presented provide the most effective means of developing and implementing a sustainable performance measurement system for Australian drug law enforcement. (Introduction, edited)
