During March 1981, a seminar on Aboriginal criminological research, held at the Australian Institute of Criminology, recommended inter alia the Institute establish a data center with respect to Aboriginal criminal justice research, innovations and crime prevention programs. The Institute's Board of Management subsequently decreed that an attempt be made to disseminate the data obtained. Aborigines & criminal justice, an annual publication, is one of a number of initiatives undertaken by the Australian Institute of Criminology to implement the seminar's mandate. As indicated in its sub-title, Aborigines & criminal justice is divided into three sections: Written material and innovations; Current research; Quantitative data.
