Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to identify the use of firearms in the context of all violent deaths in Australia over the last ten years, the relative place of firearms as the means of suicide and homicide, the difficulties of assessing the impact of firea rm control on the level of violence, and to suggest avenues to overcome these difficulties. Graphs and tables trace these trends.
