Tasmanian project wins anti-violence award

A Tasmanian project working in the area of domestic violence will today receive a major award in the national Violence Prevention awards for 1996.

The award will be presented by the Minister for Police and Public Safety, Mr Beswick, at Parliament House, Hobart, at 11am today (Thursday, December 5). The chair of the VPA committee, Dr Adam Graycar (who is also Director of the Australian Institute of Criminology), will be at the ceremony.

The major Tasmanian winner is Domestic Violence Action Group Inc, a group which provides community education on the problem of domestic violence.
