Sexual assault

Sexual assault is defined as physical assault of a sexual nature and can include rape, date rape and incest. It can happen to anyone, including children. Its impact on the individual, their friends, family and community cannot be underestimated. AIC research shows that reports of sexual assaults are increasing by an average of four per cent each year. The AIC has a storehouse of research on sexual assault from international and local sources available on its website together with helpful links to the many options available for preventing or dealing with sexual assault and violence.
