Family / domestic violence

Domestic violence is a significant issue in our community. It is the most common factor contributing to homelessness among women and their children. It also plays a major role in the nation’s homicides with most involving one or more victims who have a family or domestic relationship with the offender. The AIC has identified key issues relating to domestic violence, has recommended specific areas that can be targeted to prevent future incidents and has identified areas requiring future research. The AIC website also offers links to a wide range of practical guides for victims and others affected by this form of violence.
