International and overseas juvenile justice

Introduction

Since the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, a growing number of countries have modified their juvenile justice laws to guarantee children the rights set forth in the convention and in other international documents that provide for the rights of people in contact with the criminal justice system.

This section lists the main international instruments that deal with young people and the criminal justice system. It also provides links to juvenile justice systems and initiatives throughout the world to provide an international comparison.
