Crime in the community

Crime costs Australia nearly $36 billion a year but also impacts on our society in many other ways. For example, individual families can be acutely affected by missing persons, problem gamblingmental illness or recidivism. Areas perceived as secure, such as rural communities or sporting activities are also victims of a range of crimes. AIC research on the costs of crime to the community together with national and international reports on the subject, is available on this website.
