1993 Award winners

In 1993, 102 nominations were received from all Australian states and territories.

The largest category of nominations received for the 1993 Award (36) addressed the issues of violence prevention for children and young people, and included school based prevention programs for primary, high school and university students. Ten nominations were concerned with the prevention of violence amongst families and parents. Violence prevention in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities was the focus of six nominations. Nine nominations focussed on the prevention of domestic violence, and six other projects targeted women, covering such areas as self-defence, education, awareness raising and court liaison officers. The prevention of violence in the general community was the subject of seventeen nominations. Other topical nominations included projects aimed at preventing violence in licensed premises and projects addressing violence against gays and lesbians.
