Monitoring human trafficking trends and activities

Description

This four-year research program aims to monitor trends in human trafficking in the Asia-Pacific region, assess the likely impact of these trends upon Australia and document emerging responses, including examples of good practice.

The information acquired will assist and inform Australian efforts to prevent and reduce human trafficking, effectively respond to trafficking and provide early warning of human trafficking to Australia for the purposes of labour exploitation.

The AIC will capitalise on existing linkages with Commonwealth law enforcement, research institutes in the region, non-governmental organisations and United Nations agencies to access a wide range of sources and data to assist in building a picture of activity and trends, including responses.
